  1. The cover of their self title album (a militaristic image which is a portrait of the third Reich military force) provides an illustration of anger expressed by the WWII's young generation against their parents. By consequence German Oak's music is very eerie, dark and weird, dominated by heavy, "distorted" guitar solos & raw bluesy rhythms.
  2. The album starts and ends with 2 short tracks, and the meat of the ablum are two long tracks. "Down In the Bunker" is an 18 min. experimental track that sounds like early Tangerine Dream if that band played rock instruments instead of synths. The fact that German Oak is indeed a German band as well cannot be a coincidence/5(13).

Oct 02,  · German Oak - The Third Reich With out a doubt, a great album, with some definite gothic-industrial under tones, but much more 'Prog-Rock' instrumentation thrown in for very good measure, it is early 's after all. Classed by many under the banner heading of 'kraut-rock' This its not what comes to my mind when I think of K-Rock/5().

  7. German Oak is a legendary instrumental underground band hailing from Duesseldorf, Germany which recorded exactly one album, the self-titled LP, and which I've had in my CD collection for years. The album was reissued some 25 years ago with several extra tracks (I don't have that reissue)/5(6).
